Bio - Stemming from Merrimack, New Hampshire, Devil’s Champion was formed as a nameless band in late 2003 by Matt Hart and Jay Renaud. After experimenting with several bassists and guitarists they recruited Matt Burpee, a long time friend and well known bandless guitar player. Matt B. brought a mix of tormented riffs and anguished leads which have been further perverted by Matt H’s tormented mind and Jay’s bone crunching rhythm. As a trio they began writing songs while continuing their search for a bass player. Enter Brian Rourke, a friend of Matt B. and all around music junkie to add some bowel churning rumbling to the mix. For almost a year the foursome wrote songs and searched high and low for vocalists. Many came and went for almost a year with the help of flyers and word of mouth but no one stuck. In January of 2006 the bands search was over as they had found Al Wolfson, a guitarist turned singer, who auditioned and subsequently became the voice of anger for what had meanwhile become Devil's Champion.
In October 2007 Jay parted ways with the band and was eventually replaced by Pat McGrath. pat was launched into a trial by fire initiation and a flurry of shows, managing to not only hold his own but add his own flair to the material.
