Metal for a New Massacre

Metal venues (and live music venues in general) are dropping like flies. The Skybar and Rox's are gone, Uptown Tavern is closing in October, Goodtimes is closing at the end of the year, and there are countless others. Why? Because our society is fixated on listening to the same old shit, over and over again. Turn on the radio, they play the same 5 songs in an endless loop, and those songs are all cookie cutter verse-chorus-verse bullshit. Originality is no longer profitable, let's stick to the same formula and rehash the same old crap in a different package.
Cover bands, DJs and karaoke now dominate the 'local music scene'. If you're content with this, then sit back and turn the radio up and enjoy your mediocrity. If this pisses you off, then consider this a call to action. Get out to local (original) shows, but a tshirt or CD from a band you like. Tell your friends about them. As long as the venues see that there is a following for live music, they will make it available. Do your part, support those of us who bleed on stage for your entertainment value.
There are plenty of amazing local bands in the area, check them out. For those of you looking for an immediate fix, check out First Shove, Broken Hell, and Devil's Champion this Saturday at the Uptown Tavern in Manchester. It's free, and now non smoking.
See you in the pits
